SecureSpan™ XML Networking Gateway
The SecureSpan™ XML Networking Gateway combines the capabilities of the SecureSpan XML Accelerator, XML Data Screen and XML Firewall and VPN with advanced message routing, mediation, virtualization and SLA features to address generalized Application Oriented Networking (AON) problems.
Deployed either as a hardware accelerated appliance or gateway software, the SecureSpan XML Networking Gateway provides SOA and integration architects flexible policy based control for scalably mediating service interactions across message oriented middlewares, protocols, service versions and XML data formats. Through integration with leading registry products, the SecureSpan Networking Gateway can be also be implemented as a high performance runtime policy enforcement point for SOA Governance initiatives.
For scenarios requiring advanced SLA capabilities, the XML SecureSpan Networking Gateway can be deployed in conjunction with SOA and Application Performance Management products to enforce routing and throughput policies based on requestor identity, Class of Service, message parameter, service availability or service performance. Customized routing fabrics can also be defined in the SecureSpan XML Networking Gateway based on a target address, requestor identity, SLA performance, transport type, message content or a policy defined condition. For B2B and wide area applications, routing decisions between XML Networking Gateway intermediaries can also be defined across security boundaries.
The SecureSpan XML Networking Gateway is available as a linearly scalable, high performance 64-bit, multi-processor, 1U appliance with onboard XML acceleration optional and FIPS 140-2 SSL/crypto acclerator with HSM or as Gateway software for Linux and Solaris server platforms. The SecureSpan XML Networking Gateways also supports device virtualization and the SecureSpan Custom Policy Assertion SDK.

Products:
SecureSpan™ XML Accelerator
The SecureSpan™ XML Accelerator offloads extremely processor-intensive XML parsing, validation and transformation operations from application servers, database servers and Enterprise Service Buses (ESB). The XML Accelerator appliance is specifically designed to accelerate XML message throughput and reduce the latency associated with processing all common XML message formats including POX, SOAP, REST and AJAX.
SecureSpan™ XML Data Screen
The SecureSpan™ XML Data Screen protects XML, Web services and Web 2.0 applications from damage, downtime or improper information. The XML Data Screen is the first Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) / Web-Oriented Architecture (WOA) XML appliance specifically designed to cleanse XML data streams of threats, vulnerabilities and unauthorized content for all common XML message formats including POX, SOAP, REST and AJAX.
SecureSpan™ XML Networking Gateway
The SecureSpan™ XML Networking Gateway combines the capabilities of the SecureSpan XML Accelerator, XML Data Screen and XML Firewall and VPN with advanced message routing, mediation, virtualization and SLA features to address generalized Application Oriented Networking (AON) problems.
XML Firewall and VPN
The SecureSpan™ XML Firewall combines the capabilities of the SecureSpan XML Accelerator and Data Screen with advanced identity and message level security to address the broadest range of behind the firewall, portal and B2B SOA security challenges.
SecureSpan™ Manager
The SecureSpan™ Manager provides a graphical environment for administering SecureSpan appliances and gateway software, creating, and validating XML and Web services policies.

Joint Webinar with Layer 7 and Sun: Identity Driven SOA Governance - Best Practices - Podcast Featuring The Burton Group
Digital Identity is at the heart of the modern business ecosystem. However, governing SOA interactions - particularly across a distributed or federated environment - creates complexity not found in typical user-machine exchanges. Separating policy creation and enforcement from service implementation can simplify SOA governance without compromising scalability, flexibility and auditability - accommodating even the most elaborate, heterogeneous IT landscapes. This Webinar will review best practices for building and operating a policy-centered, identity-driven SOA.
A Practical Guide to Policy Authoring for SOA Governance
This Webcast, presented by Layer 7 CTO and WS-Policy co-editor, Dr. Toufic Boubez, will cover how to declaratively *define SOA Policy for SOA Governance applications.* Consistent, standards based policy definition is the first step in implementing an SOA Governance framework.
Policy-Driven SOA – the New Contract for Architecture
The promise of SOA is in delivering flexible, loosely-coupled systems. In order to achieve this, contracts, requirement and capabilities need to be defined and automated through a declarative and manageable mechanism. This required level of abstraction for SOA sits at the Policy level. This talk will introduce the concept of Policy Driven SOA and discuss Policy and the WS-Policy specification as the new contract abstraction for SOA.
