Leading industry analyst firm places F5 at the market share forefront of ADC vendors

F5 Networks, Inc. announced that it continues to hold the number-one position in the Application Delivery Controller (ADC) market. In the recently published Gartner report, Market Share: Application Acceleration Equipment, Worldwide, 4Q06 and 2006 (March 2007), F5 leads the ADC market with a 33.5 percent share in Q406 based on revenue. This quarterly result also helped F5 capture the top spot for CY 2006, with 33.7 percent of the yearly market.

In addition, F5 continues to lead in the advanced platform ADC subsegment, with 59.9 percent of the market in CY 2006, more than 4x that of the nearest competitor.

According to the report, "The trend to centralize servers and deploy Web-enabled intranet applications continued in 2006, driving application acceleration vendor revenue to more than $1.5 billion?The ADC market grew by almost 6 percent from 3Q06 to 4Q06, ending the year at almost $933 million, which was an increase of 28.2 percent over 2005. The advanced platform ADC subsegment grew by 5.5 percent in 4Q06, ending the year at more than $524 million, up almost 37 percent from 2005."
